Pictorial maps ( http://www.georgeglazer.com/maps/pictorialmap/pictorialmap.html ) are a genre in which the cartography is enlivened with illustrations pertinent to the places shown: landmarks and buildings, peoples and ethnography, plants and animals, sometimes rendered in bird's-eye view. The maps often include historical events and references.

"A good traveler is one who does not know where he is going to, and a perfect traveler is one who does not know where he came from." - Lin Yu-t'ang

"Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock. " & "Take the diplomacy out of war and the thing would fall flat in a week." - Will Rogers

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." - Will Rogers

"Worst of all, as most became weaker and weaker, they'd resort to visualizing what they wanted, but without knocking, yearning without expecting, and, you guessed it, just kind of hanging around waiting for Oprah to call, instead of living a life worth calling about." - The Universe
